EARTH’ ACTIVITIES IN THE JUNIOR SCHOOL

Craft Activities as Well as Club Activities
Montessori
An
activity of making earthen lamps from reused earthen posts was conducted in
Junior and Senior Montessori classes before the festival of Diwali. Children
brought old earthen lamps and decorative material from home and decorated the
same in the class. These earthen lamps will be sold to the parents and teachers
during the Fundraising event on PTM before Diwali.
Grade 1
ofgrade 1 prepared a showpiece –
kalash for pooja thali on September 29, 2016 for which a demonstration was
given by Ms. Amita Lalwani of Junior School. The children brought old earthen
pots and pineapple tops from home. They painted the earthen pots and the
pineapple tops and decorated them by sprinkling golden glitters. The activity
was fun-filled and provided students a lesson on creation of recycled handicrafts.
Grade 2
As a part of School Enterprise Challenge activity,
students of grade 2 made ear-rings on September 23 and
29, 2016. In this activity, students were asked to bring used colourful glitter
paper and a pair of rings made of golden wire. Students decorated the wires
with paper and made artistic ear-rings.
Ms. Amita Lalwani and Ms.
Namrata Johari of the Junior School demonstrated in front of the students of
grade 3, 4 and 5 how to make exercise balls, brush pencil holders and envelopes
respectively from reused material. Exercise balls were made with the help of
colourful balloons and sand, brush pencil holders were made from old plastic
bottles and envelopes from old wedding cards by the students in their club
activity periods.
