COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROJECT
Reaching out to Children of Bahu Udeshya Seva Samiti
Teaching The Underprivileged Skills of Making Handicrafts
‘There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching
down and lifting people up.’ Bringing the smile on the faces is not easy, but
if you try you succeed. Students of Community Service Club invested their time
and skills to teach 35 underprivileged children of Bahu Udeshya Seva Samiti
aged 12 to16 who visited our school on November 4, 2017. Our grade 7 and 8 students
taught them the skill of making handicrafts (pen stands from old jute and weaving
baskets from recycled sheets). Our students who had learnt this during their
Art activity periods as a part of School Enterprise Challenge were glad to pass
on their skills. The activity witnessed the absolute participation by these
vulnerable children and also enhanced their creative and imaginative skills.
The experience taught the students that unless a life is lived for others, it
is not worthwhile.
