Skype Session With Satya Bharti Adarsh
Senior Secondary School, Chogawan, Punjab
To extend our understanding and establish valuable
connections with different schools and businesses run by the students as a part
of School Enterprise Challenge, we had a skype session with Satya Bharti Adarsh
Senior Secondary School, Chogawan, Punjab on August 27, 2019. The session was
conducted under the supervision of lead teachers of both the schools, viz. ,
Mrs.Raminder Mac of our school and Mrs. Manpreet Kaur of Satya Bharti Adarsh
Senior Secondary School, Chogawan, Punjab.
The session started with our General Manager Jyeshtha
Mishra apprising the business team of Satya Bharti School about our business
enterprise followed by the question-answer session. We discovered the following
aspects of their enterprise:
• Their enterprise is run under the
banner of Bharti organic farming and is in operation since 2016.
• They produce organic aloe vera and
organic vegetables.
• The production process usually takes
one to two months.
• They sell their products in the local
market and the unsold vegetables are used for their mid-day meals. This assures
the proper utilization of all the commodities in the best possible way.
• Many people, parents, and the students
themselves volunteer in the production of vegetables and aloe vera.
• The price is settled according to the
current market value of the commodity and then fixed at a price cheaper than
the market. This makes their products sustainable to the users.
• The enterprise consists of students
from classes 10 to 12. And the selection of members is
based on the capabilities of the student so the enterprise remains effective.
• Their enterprise consists of mainly 5
departments-planning department, production department, selling department,
finance department and accounting department.
• The school is operated on a charity
basis so the entire profit goes for the development of the school itself.
• They earn a profit of INR 4000 to INR
6000 approximately every year.
• The biggest challenge that they faced
in their business was the problem of paucity of funds.
We learned that even while facing adversities like
paucity of funds, the students of Satya Bharti Adarsh S.S. School were
optimistic and were making their best efforts to make the business sustainable.
We were amazed to see how students of a rural school could speak confidently in
English, ask pertinent questions from us as well as answer with conviction.
We analyzed that we were an edge above them in the
profit earning and the diversity of the products that we have.
We were pleased to speak with the students of Satya
Bharti Adarsh S.S. School and we look forward to more such sessions in the
future.
