PHILANTHROPIC ENDEAVOUR
From the profits generated, the
business team bought 37 solar lamps and assembled them in the school to gift to
villagers who suffer from erratic power supply. As a part of Global Student
Solar Ambassador Workshop our school partnered with Department of Energy
Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay for ‘Gandhi
Global Solar Yatra’ to celebrate Gandhiji’s 150th birth anniversary on October
2, 2019.
‘Gandhi Global Solar Yatra’
envisioned spreading the message of Energy Swaraj and inspiring the young minds
about the use of Solar Energy to mitigate Climate Change keeping in mind the
principles of Gandhiji, the Father of our Nation. This was also the initiative
towards taking action for UN Sustainable Development Goal 13 - Climate Action.
This solved two purposes – awakening in the minds of the students the need for
renewable energy, doing their bit for UNSDG 13 Climate Action as well as
reaching out to the community. 10 of these solar lamps were distributed by
members of the Community Service Club to villagers of Nayapura village on
November 13, 2019.
